InDRAMAYU - Indramayu Regent Lucky Hakim gave clarification regarding the polemic of his trip to Japan which recently became public attention, especially related to the travel rules for regional heads on weekdays.
Lucky explained that plans to go to Japan with his family had been planned for a long time, even during the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) campaign.
During the campaign I rarely stay at home. Therefore, I promise my family, especially children, to take them on vacation after the election is over," he said at the Indramayu Regent's Hall, West Java, Antara, Tuesday, April 8.
According to Lucky, travel tickets have been purchased since December 2024, with a scheduled departure on April 2 and plans to return on April 11, 2025. However, due to working days from April 8 to 10, 2025, he had applied for permission through the staff.
The application for the permit, said Lucky, cannot be processed because the submission time is considered to be less than 14 working days as stipulated in the provisions.
At that time I felt that the submission was enough, but the staff explained the rules for 14 working days. Finally, I chose to advance my return to April 6 so I could return to work on April 8, "he said.
Lucky said the decision to advance the return was taken as a form of responsibility so as not to leave his duties as regional head, on weekdays.
He assessed that the move was in accordance with the spirit of the applicable regulations, and admitted that he had only learned of a circular regarding travel restrictions during the Lebaran holiday when he was in Japan, because he had not had time to read all the incoming documents.
"Maybe I'm not thorough. There are a lot of letters coming in every day and I haven't had time to read all of them yet," he said.
While abroad, Lucky said he would remain in intense communication with the Deputy Regent of Indramayu to ensure government services continue to run normally.
"Pak Wakil Bupati Indramayu sangat membantu. Saya juga sudah delegasikan tugas dan tanggung jawab selama saya di luar negeri," ujarnya.
Lucky said he had coordinated with the Governor of West Java, and planned to submit a direct explanation to the Ministry of Home Affairs to straighten out differences in understanding regarding the definition of working days in applying for permits.
He apologized if his steps led to a misunderstanding in the community, and emphasized that he had no intention of violating the rules.
