KPK Asks ASN Who Go Home Using Official Cars To Be Sanctioned

"Leaders and internal supervisory units can impose administrative sanctions on violators because abuse of state or regional assets is a violation of the rules and code of ethics as state civil servants," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters in his statement quoted Friday, April 4.

Budi said official cars are state or regional assets that must be managed in an orderly manner. Thus, its use must be ensured that the work of ASN is not for personal gain.

"The use of state or regional assets also has the opportunity to cause criminal acts of corruption considering that state or regional assets must be managed in an orderly manner, starting from recording, use to treatment," he said.

"The KPK, in this case, wants to ensure that state or regional assets are used as appropriate for official activities," continued Budi.

Reporting from a number of media, Depok Mayor Supian Suri allowed Depok City Government employees to go home using official cars. So, the vehicle does not need to be left at a house where the occupants are going home.

"This means that if something unexpected happens, it is lost, yes, it is their responsibility so that it must return the state's losses if that happens," said Supian, Friday, March 28.

In addition, the policy is an appreciation for ASN. Thus, Supian hopes that they will be helped to go home because not all Depok City Government employees have private vehicles.

"It is also hoped that it will make it easier for them to return to Depok so that transportation problems are not hampered," he said.

This statement was then highlighted by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto by saying that awarding ASN should not be arbitrary. There is a mechanism that must be followed.

"We understand that there are regional heads who want to reward their staff. But that's not the mechanism," Bima told reporters at the official residence of MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani, Widya Chandra complex, Jakarta, April 2.

"There are many ways to pay attention, but not with official facilities," he continued.

Bima said official vehicles that are not used properly cause potential state losses. Moreover, if it is damaged when used to travel outside the city.

“Dan ini kan juga libur ini juga banyak yang tetap piket dan bekerja. Ini juga butuh mobil dinas juga. Jadi jangan sangka bahwa libur ini semuanya libur. Enggak. Pemerintah itu punya sistem shift. Jadi semuanya ada yang piket. Tentu ini butuh juga fasilitas mobil dinas dan lain-lain untuk bekerja,” tegasnya.

Polemik ini juga berbuntut pada rencana pemanggilan Supian bersama jajarannya oleh Gubernur Jawa Barat Dedi Mulyadi. Dia akan menegur mereka pada Selasa, 8 April mendatang atau hari pertama kerja setelah libur dan cuti bersama Hari Raya Idulfitri 1446 Hijriah.

"We will invite the regents, mayors, including the deputy mayor of Depok. Later there will be things that will be our pressure point so that similar incidents do not happen again," said Dedi to reporters after halal bihalal at the house of MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani, Widya Chandra Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 2.

Dedi said that these regional heads may need to adjust first. So, he will only give a warning instead of a sanction.
