JAKARTA The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is scheduled to release the departure of humanitarian mission troops to Myanmar from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, on Thursday, April 3. This mission aims to assist the evacuation and distribution of aid for earthquake victims that hit Myanmar.
Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Suharyanto, confirmed the plan in a press conference held at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Tuesday, April 1.
"Later, we will go together on April 3, 2025, hopefully it can be released by President Prabowo Subianto," said Suharyanto.
Initial Stage Assistance Already Sent
According to Suharyanto, the dispatch of troops and assistance is part of a series of aid deliveries that have been carried out previously. On Monday 31 March, the government has sent 12 tons of logistics along with TNI personnel. Then, this Tuesday, BNPB has also dispatched its personnel to Myanmar to begin assisting the process of evacuating victims.
Suharyanto explained that the next stage of assistance to be sent on April 3 will be much larger, both in terms of the number of personnel and logistics.
The government will send two planes on humanitarian missions this time. The first aircraft will carry government delegations, TNI personnel, and officers from the Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, the second aircraft will transport logistical assistance originating from the government and the private sector.
One cargo plane with its contents is much needed for people affected by the disaster. That's with a tonnage of about 80 tons," explained Suharyanto.
The items sent include foodstuffs, medicines, medical equipment, and other basic needs that can help people affected by the earthquake in Myanmar.
BNPB And TNI Personnel Sent For Victim Evacuation
In this mission, BNPB deployed 53 personnel, consisting of a team from Basarnas and Baznas. They will cooperate with TNI personnel in the process of evacuating earthquake victims.
The task of Basarnas is to find victims, seek help. Be grateful to still meet the living. But even if it doesn't live, that's okay, maybe the body," said Suharyanto.
Meanwhile, Baznas will be tasked with supporting Basarnas in the search and evacuation process for affected victims.

The Humanitarian Mission Lasts Up To One Month
Personnel sent to Myanmar were originally scheduled to serve for one week. However, based on experience in humanitarian missions at other disaster sites, Suharyanto suggested that the mission last up to one month.
I suggested yesterday to the government for a month. Why a month? This is an experience based on other places," he said.
However, Suharyanto emphasized that his personnel will remain ready to serve for a longer period of time if needed. They will continue to work until the Myanmar government officially announces the termination of search and evacuation operations for victims.
With this troop delivery and assistance, Indonesia shows its commitment to helping friendly countries that are facing a humanitarian disaster. Support from various parties, including the government and the private sector, is expected to ease the burden on the people of Myanmar who are affected by the earthquake.
