JAKARTA - Indonesian citizens (WNI) living in Geneva, Switzerland and their surroundings celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1446 H/2025 AD by carrying the spirit of taste of home or presenting a home atmosphere.
The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations, WTO, and other International Organizations in Geneva (PTRI Geneva) said the event began with the congregational Eid prayer led by Ustaz Muladi Mugheni who is also the Director of Ulama Cadre PKU MUI DKI Jakarta.
The event then continued with a halal bihalal and friendly event with the Indonesian people who live in Geneva and various other Swiss regions.
Ad Interim's attorney, Ambassador Achsanul Habib said that the spirit of Eid al-Fitr at PTRI Geneva is a reflection of Indonesia's noble values that continue to live in the midst of overseas communities.
"Eid al-Fitr reminds us of the meaning of victory after a month of restraint and increasing good deeds," said Ambassador Achasnul as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 31.
Almost all elements of society were also present at the celebration, including more than 250 participants consisting of Indonesian citizens, diaspora, diplomatic guests, and ambassadors from friendly countries.
Their presence, according to Achasnul, is a real symbol of openness, tolerance, and the spirit of multiculturalism that are the hallmarks of Indonesian society abroad.
"In the midst of multicultural life like Geneva, we want to present a sense of home, a sense of Indonesia, which is not only a space for friendship, but also strengthens the line of togetherness across nations and cultures," he said.
The Indonesian Ambassador hopes that togetherness in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr will be part of Indonesia's inclusive, humanist, and relevant diplomatic contributions to global dynamics.
At that moment there is also a typical Indonesian dish that can only be found during Eid. There are menus such as lontong sayur, chicken opor, balayo eggs, potato fried sambal, to various Indonesian special fried foods such as cireng, bakwan, and, tofu content.
