Sea Waves In Several Waters Of North Sumatra Potentially 2.5 Meters

The forecaster of the Belawan Maritime Meteorological Station, Medan Dasmian Sulviani, said that a number of waters in North Sumatra from March 29 to 31, 2025, have the potential to be hit by waves as high as 1.25 to 2.5 meters.

The high wave conditions have the potential to occur in the West waters of the Nias Islands, West Waters of North Sumatra, Waters of the Batu Islands, West Waters of the Batu Islands, and East Waters of the Nias Islands.

Wind patterns in the northern waters of West Sumatra generally move from West to North, while in the eastern part generally move from East to Southwest.

Wind speeds generally range from 4 to 20 knots.

It is recommended to fishermen boats to be vigilant if the wind speed reaches 15 knots and the wave height reaches 1.25 meters, as well as barges to be alert if the wind speed reaches 16 knots and the wave height reaches 1.5 meters.
