Cooperation With The Ministry Of Education And Culture, KemenP2MI Aims For Vocational High School Graduates/Affected Vocations For Overseas Work

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) signed a collaboration with the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) regarding improving the quality of Indonesian migrant workers.

The collaboration was signed by the Director General of Placement of the Ministry of P2MI Ahnas, the Director General of Promotion and Utilization of Foreign Works Opportunities at the Ministry of P2MI Dwi Setiawan Susanto with the Director General of Vocational Education, Special Education, and Special Service Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Tatang Muttaqin witnessed by the Minister of P2MI Abdul Kadir Karding, Minister of Education Abdul Mu'ti, Minister of Manpower Yassierli, and Chairman of Commission X Hetifah Sjaifudin at the Ministry of Education and Culture Office, Monday, March 24.

Minister Karding said the signing was carried out to create a good vocational ecosystem, especially preparing workers who have the ability to work abroad.

"A joint commitment to create a vocational ecosystem or training in particular the preparation of prospective workers for our workforce that we will place abroad because of the most principles and basic things related to efforts to build governance for the protection of Indonesian migrant workers, one of which is increased competence," said Karding after witnessing the signing of the cooperation.

After collaborating, said Minister Karding, the steps that will be taken by the Ministry of P2MI are to map out work requests abroad. So, you can find out what must be prepared to fulfill the request.

"In the context of today's cooperation, we convey that the first thing we do is mapping, so we map out where the job order is, what job position does it work, what kind of workforce does it take, then we finish here," said Karding.

He hopes that the Ministry of Education and Culture can prepare labor skills since they sit on the vocational or vocational benches.

On the other hand, Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu'ti said that his party would prepare skilled vocational vocational graduates to work abroad. Students who will be prepared, said the Minister of Education and Culture, are planned to come from SMKs that have a ranking of the Excellence Program.

"To prepare SMK graduates who are ready to work abroad and we plan our SMK-SMK, especially SMK, which has a PK rating with the Excellence Program," said Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu'ti.

Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu'ti mengatakan SMK dengan peringkat Program Keunggulan, masa Studi bagi para siswa nantinya akan lebih lama dari SMK pada umumnya.

"Later we will design it to become a vocational school whose study period is slightly longer than the other vocational schools. We design the vocational school to be able to study for the last 4 years and 1 year is to prepare them to work abroad and the route is already at the Ministry of Migrant Workers Protection," said Abdul Mu'ti.
