JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) invites women, especially critical wives when managing family finances. They are asked to dare to ask as long as their husband's money is to prevent corruption.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, in the Women's Anti-Corruption Webinar of South Sulawesi Province (Sulsel) on Thursday, March 20.

"This open and critical attitude can be started by asking about the origins of the husband's income and how to use it," Ibnu said as quoted from the institution's official release, Friday, March 21.

By asking, continued Ibnu, it is hoped that the husband will be more open to conveying the origin of the money. "Especially when there is an unclear income, the source or expenditure is not as needed," he said.

Women or wives are also reminded to dare to refuse suspicious gifts and remind families to stay away from corruption, explained Ibnu. Moreover, women or wives will be role models for their children.

"Therefore, from an early age it is customary for children not to take other people's property and always be honest," said Ibnu.

Meanwhile, South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman said that the role of women is needed in eradicating corruption. Wives, in particular, must ask if something is unnatural.

"Husbands who work in offices have rules and regulations that must be obeyed. If something is unnatural, the wife must ask questions and make sure the husband is not pressured to do things beyond his ability," he said.

"Here, I see that women's participation in the anti-corruption movement is very important," concluded Andi.
