The Victim Shouted, Motorcycle Thief In Cianjur Arrested By Residents Crowded

JAKARTA - The Cianjur Resort Police (Polres) arrested a thief with the initials DI (38) who was caught red-handed while trying to steal a motorbike in front of a grocery store on Jalan Raya Bandung-Cianjur, Tuesday, March 18. One firearm (senpi) belonging to the perpetrator was also secured.

Sukaluyu Police Chief AKP Akhmad Tri Lesmana revealed that the arrests began with the screams of the motorcycle owner who caught the perpetrator's action in front of a grocery store.

"During the action, the perpetrator and his colleagues. However, his colleague managed to escape, while DI, who was caught, could not move because residents had surrounded him after hearing the screams of thieves from inside the shop," he said in Cianjur, Tuesday, March 18, which was confiscated by Antara.

Meanwhile, DI, who was about to break into the motorcycle lock, panicked and tried to escape. However, an officer who was on patrol with local residents immediately arrested him.

Local residents who heard the perpetrators were caught scattering to the location, then judging the perpetrators to death.

At that time the officers who were overwhelmed with the anger of the residents finally took the perpetrators into a patrol car to go to the hospital.

"Before becoming a target for residents, officers had searched the perpetrator's bag. A firearm was found and a number of evidence, such as the letter T key," said Sukaluyu Police Chief.

Currently, he said, the perpetrator is still undergoing treatment at the hospital due to serious injuries, so the police have not examined the person concerned.

Regarding the case, his party is still developing an investigation to arrest other perpetrators.

"We will continue to develop it, including exploring where the firearms were used by the perpetrators. Regarding other perpetrators, currently officers are still being chased," he said.

Based on eyewitness testimony, the action taken by DI was classified as reckless because the location of the motorbike parked was quite crowded and it was clearly observed that the owner was shopping in the shop.

In fact, his action of breaking into the motorcycle keys was only in seconds. However, the owner who saw his motorbike was about to steal, immediately shouted for help.

"At the time of the incident, traders had started to hear the screams of thieves from inside the shop, immediately rushed to the location and managed to catch the perpetrators who were trying to escape. However, they were confronted by residents and an officer," said an eye witness to a trader around the location named Iwan (34).
