Sick Due To His Own Abortion, 2 Couples Treated At The Mataram NTB Hospital Were Reported To The Police

NTB - Mataram City Police (Polresta), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), carried out legal proceedings on two lovebirds with the initials DR (19) and FT (24) who were suspected of having an abortion.

Head of Subunit PPA Satreskrim Polresta Mataram Iptu Putu Yulianingsih said this legal process was a follow-up to reports coming from the Mataram City Regional General Hospital (RSUD).

"After receiving reports of alleged abortion by the couple, we immediately came to the hospital and secured them," he said in Mataram, Monday, March 17, as reported by Antara.

It is known that DR is a woman who is still a student at a university in Mataram City. He got the drug to abort the pregnancy from someone with the initials DI (20).

After taking the drug, DR contracted. With the help of FT, DR had an abortion in his boarding house in the Ampenan area, Mataram City, on March 13, 2025.

From the confession of the suspects DR and FT, the condition of the baby at birth is still alive. After being born, DR's baby was rushed by the two perpetrators to the Ampenan Health Center until he was referred to the Mataram City Hospital.

"Arriving at the Mataram City Hospital, the baby was declared dead. Based on the findings of the case, the hospital contacted us," he said.

Regarding the origin of the drug alleged to abort the pregnancy, the police have received information that FT bought it from DI with two purchases worth Rp1,330,000.

"He said (FT) bought twice at a price of Rp. 530 thousand and Rp. 800 thousand per two pills. When the second purchase was, the baby came out," he said.

According to DI's statement, he admitted that he got the abortion drug from his brother's acquaintance who works as a health worker.

Regarding this information, Putu Yulianingsih ensured that his party was still continuing to develop cases to trace drug sources.

"We are investigating and we make sure this case is still in field development," he said.

Furthermore, DI together with the two lovebirds are now suspects and are undergoing detention at the Mataram Police Detention Center.

The three perpetrators involved in the abortion case are suspected of violating Article 77 A paragraph (1) junto Article 45 A of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection with a penalty of 10 years in prison.
