JAKARTA - Director General of the General Court of the Supreme Court (MA) Bambang Myanto revealed that currently courts in Indonesia really need clerks.

Bambang explained that the number of technical personnel for the ministry as of March 12, 2025 was 5,274 people, while the need reached 6,290 people.

"Why is the number for the technical staff of the clerk so much lack? After we conducted the research, it turns out that on average in one year we lost approximately 500 clerks," Bambang said in a joint hearing meeting with Commission III of the DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, March 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the data on the average shortage was due to the presence of clerk technical personnel who retired, died, were given disciplinary sanctions, or resigned.

In addition, the procurement of employees within the court is currently focused on the position of judges so that there is no procurement for clerks or court employees.

"This is also related to interest, which is the allowance for substitute clerks currently having a position allowance of Rp. 300 thousand, while the young clerk's allowance is Rp. 360 thousand. For clerks it is Rp. 540 thousand, while in the secretariat the allowance is bigger so that many of them are not interested," he explained.

Therefore, Bambang continued, there are a number of courts that currently do not have a substitute clerk so that young clerks hold concurrent positions.

"Especially in areas that are indeed far away because there are no more personnel that we can propose to be appointed as substitute clerks," he said.

Currently, Indonesia lacks 11 high court clerks (PT) and district courts (PN), 126 young clerks of PT and PN, 2,641 substitute clerks of PT and PN, 741 bailiffs, and 2,771 substitute bailiffs.

The number of clerks of PT and PN is currently 405 people and the young clerks of PT and PN are 1,240 people. Then the substitute clerks for PT and PN amounted to 2,587 people, the bailiffs were 753 people, and 739 substitute bailiffs.
