PANGKALPINANG - The Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police has named 14 people as suspects in the tin ore smuggling case at Nyato Port, Nasik Strait, Belitung Regency, which occurred a few days ago.

The smuggling suspects have been detained at the Belitung Police Headquarters Detention Center since Monday.

"Earlier we received information, 12 suspects were in the process of being picked up to be taken to the Babel Police Headquarters, while the two suspects were still being held at the Belitung Police Headquarters," he said.

In addition to determining 14 suspects, in handling this case the Babel Police Ditreskrimsus also secured and confiscated a number of evidences, including 452 sacks of tin ore, three trucks and a car.

"Meanwhile, the information we can convey from investigators, if there is new information, it will be re-submitted," he said.

Previously, it was reported that a joint team from the Bangka Belitung Police and Belitung Police had succeeded in arresting the perpetrators of tin ore smuggling at Nyatoh Harbor, Belitung Regency, on Sunday (9/3/2025) in the morning.
