During Ramadan, Accidents In East Lombok Reckless 6 Lives

East Lombok Police Traffic Unit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) recorded the death toll from an accident during Ramadan in the area reached six people.

"The number of accidents in East Lombok is quite high, because during Ramadan the number of accidents was 18 cases and resulted in six deaths," said East Lombok Police Traffic Unit Head AKP Tira Kadista in East Lombok, quoted by ANTARA Tuesday, March 11.

He said of the 18 accidents, six of them died, one person suffered serious injuries and 20 people suffered minor injuries.

"The victims who died were mostly young," he said.

Meanwhile, the number of accident cases that occurred from January to March 2025 was 87. Of these, 20 people died, one person was seriously injured and 88 people were slightly injured.

Seeing the high number of cases of this accident, according to Tira, various steps were taken to reduce the number of accidents, including increasing the appeal to schools, settlements and offices and posting banners and warning lights.

"This includes carrying out a kamtibcar symbol and then going to the village," he said.

He asked the public when driving using a motorbike, to always wear a safety helmet.

The use of the security helmet is to provide security for motorists.

"Of the number of accidents that occurred, the victim suffered a collision to the head and did not use a safety helmet. Do not use a helmet for fear of police, but the use of a helmet for personal safety," he said.
