Hasto Collaborates With Professional Lawyers To Human Rights Activists To Face The KPK In Court

The Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto added new ammunition to face the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN). He will cooperate with professional lawyers to human rights activists (HAM).

"Mas Hasto will appoint a number of new legal advisers from non-party advocate professionals," said the chairman of the PDIP DPP as well as Hasto's attorney, Ronny B. Talapessy, to reporters in a written statement, Monday, March 10.

"This team consists of professional advocates and advocates who are also human rights activists (HAM)," he continued.

Ronny did not specify who became the new ammunition. "Further information about who the legal advisory team will accompany the trial will convey after the final," he said.

As previously reported, the inaugural trial for the alleged bribery of interim replacement (PAW) members of the DPR and the obstruction of the investigation that ensnared the Secretary General of PDIP will be tried on Friday, March 14.

The prosecutor will read out the indictment in the courtroom of Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Hatta, the Corruption Court at the Jakarta District Court (PN) at 09.00 WIB.

The KPK deployed 12 Public Prosecutors (JPU) in the judicial process of the case. The deployment of dozens of prosecutors is stated in the Case Investigation Information System (SIPP) data of the Central Jakarta District Court.

Some of the names of the prosecutors assigned to the judicial process include Surya Dharma Tanjung, Rio Frandy, Wawan Yunarwanto, and Greafik Loerte.

As a reminder, Hasto Kristiyanto was named a suspect by the KPK in the case of alleged interim replacement bribery (PAW) that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. He was charged with Donny Tri Istiqomah who is a PDIP cadre as well as a lawyer.

Then, Hasto was also named a suspect in the alleged obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of obstructing the legal process, one of which is because he asked Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the KPK's arrest operation (OTT) was carried out in 2020.
