JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has communicated informally with a number of regional heads in Jabodetabek regarding the handling of large floods some time ago.

This is in response to the encouragement of Commission V of the DPR so that the government in Jabodetabek sits together to resolve the flood problem so that similar impacts do not occur in the future.

"We have communicated. I have met with the mayor of Bekasi, the mayor of Depok and so on. The point is, we temporarily put aside protocol or bureaucracy because this requires speed for that," said Pramono at the Kramat Jati Main Market, East Jakarta, Monday, March 10.

On Thursday, March 6, Pramono said that the DKI Provincial Government had distributed flood control assistance to Bekasi as the area with the most severe impact on flooding a few days ago.

The assistance sent consisted of 200 personnel from the DKI Jakarta Environment Agency, 87 personnel for the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) of Central Jakarta Administrative City, 15 personnel from the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, as well as 40 personnel from the DKI Jakarta City Parks and Forest Service to help clean up the remaining floods in Bekasi.

"When we provide assistance to Bekasi, it is only based on telephone," said Pramono.

Previously, Member of Commission V DPR Adian Napitupulu urged local governments in Jabodetabek to sit down together to discuss flood prevention efforts officially.

"There is Bogor, there is Bekasi, there is Jakarta. Well, these three regional heads met together. Both the governors, regents, all kinds of sitting together because this is not a problem one by one. This is a common problem," said Adian.

If necessary, continued Adian, the DKI Provincial Government and West Java jointly issue flood management budgets from upstream to downstream.

"Not everything must be the responsibility of Jakarta, but it can be shared together. Gotong royong," he said.
