Transfer Of Land Function Triggers Flood, 4 Vilas In Puncak Bogor Closed

The large floods that hit Bekasi and Bogor continued to receive attention. After the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, dismantled tourist sites suspected of causing flooding, now the Ministry of Forestry is taking firm action by sealing four villas in the Puncak area, Bogor Regency.

The Director of Forestry Crime Enforcement at the Ministry of Forestry, Rudianto Saragih Napitu, said the villas were standing on the production forest land, which should not be used for commercial buildings.

This sealing is part of controlling 17 villas suspected of violating the rules. Of these, four villas were sealed on Sunday (9/3/2025), namely Villa Forest Hill, Vila Seaford Africa, Vila Cemara, Vila Vinus.

"We have sealed Forest Hill and several other villas that stand in production forest areas. Currently, we are identifying 15 other locations that will be put in order," said Rudianto.

The existence of these luxury villas is considered to have contributed to flooding in Bogor, Jakarta, and Bekasi. This is due to the conversion of land functions that reduce the absorption of water, thus exacerbating the overflow of water in the downstream area.

To take action against this violation, the Ministry of Forestry is collaborating with the Ministry of ATR/BPN to curb villas in Puncak, Bogor, which have damaged the production forest area. One of them, by sealing it.

"In the last two weeks, flooding has occurred in Bekasi and its surroundings. Therefore, the government sees the need to control the use of land in Hulu Ciliwung, Bekasi watershed, and Cisadane watershed," added Rudianto.

By sealing villas in Puncak, Bogor, the government is committed to taking firm action against spatial violations in order to restore the function of the production forest and reduce the risk of flood disasters in the future.
