BMKG Warns Of Heavy Rain And Extreme Weather Throughout Indonesia Today

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts light rain and thunderstorms will flush almost all parts of Indonesia on Sunday, March 10.

BMKG forecaster Andika Hapsari said that the combination of atmospheric dynamics has the potential to trigger moderate to heavy rain and extreme weather in various regions.

Light rain has the potential to occur in Sumatra, namely Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Bengkulu, Palembang.

Java and Bali include the cities of Serang, Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Denpasar, Mataram, Kalimantan and Sulawesi: Pontianak, Samarinda, Makassar, Palu, Gorontalo, Manado, Kendari, Maluku and Papua are in Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Jayapura

Thunderstorms are expected to occur in:

Sumatra, namely Pangkal Pinang, Jambi, Bandar Lampung. Java and Bali are in Yogyakarta. Kalimantan and Sulawesi are in Palangka Raya, Tanjung Selor, Banjarmasin, Mamuju

In Nusa Tenggara there is Kupang City. In Papua there are Nabire, Jayawijaya, Merauke.

Another weather:

Medan and Bandung are forecasted to experience moderate rain. Meanwhile in Padang it will be cloudy.

Coastal Flood Potential Warning

BMKG also reminded the public to be aware of tidal flooding in several coastal areas, such as:

- Pesisir Banten- Pesisir Jakarta- Pesisir Jawa Barat & Jawa Tengah- Pesisir Kalimantan Selatan & Kalimantan Tengah

High Waves And Strong Winds

Waves as high as 2.5 4 meters are predicted to occur in:

North Natuna Sea In North Pacific, Maluku And Papua

BMKG appealed to the public, especially those in coastal areas and areas prone to heavy rains, to remain alert to potential disasters such as floods, strong winds, and high waves.
