Saudi Ready To Host US-Ukraine Meeting

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia welcomes the opportunity to host a meeting between the US and Ukraine next week. The Kingdom of Saudi continues to do its best to help end the Ukraine-Russia war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously said he would travel to Saudi Arabia on Monday to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman ahead of talks later this week with US officials.

A brief statement by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said US-Ukraine talks would be held in the city of Jeddah in the Red Sea.

"The foreign ministry has confirmed the kingdom's ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace to end the Ukraine crisis," the Saudi authorities said.

US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, also said he was discussing with Ukraine a framework for an agreement to end a three-year war with Russia, and a planned meeting next week with Ukraine in Saudi Arabia.

In February, Riyadh hosted a meeting between US and Russian officials to discuss how to stop Europe's deadliest conflict since World War Two.

Ukraine was not included in the talks, raising concerns in Kyiv and among its allies in Europe.

Zelenskyy met Trump at the White House on February 28, but the meeting turned into a dispute as they clashed before world media about their approach to peace.

Days after the meeting, Trump stopped military aid to Ukraine and shared intelligence information with Kyiv.
