Perpetrators Of Confiscation With COD Mode In Pinang Beaten By Masses, Police Name Suspects

Tangerang A man with the initials RP (23) was injured by the mob after being caught carrying out a confiscation using the mode of buying and selling or Cash On Delivery (COD). This incident took place on Jalan Perumahan Buana Gardenia, Tangerang City, on Wednesday, March 5, 2024.

Plt Kapolsek Pinang, Iptu Adityo Wijanarko, revealed that the perpetrator initially pretended to be a buyer and agreed to meet the victim, Adit, who wanted to sell his cellphone for Ramadan purposes.

"The perpetrator used the COD mode, but when he met the victim, he suddenly took out a sharp weapon of the type of machete and took the victim's cellphone," explained Adityo, Thursday, March 6, 2024.

The shocked victim tried to fight back, but the perpetrator immediately fled using the black pick-up car he was driving.

Adit then shouted for help, which attracted the attention of local residents. The crowd who heard the screams of the victim immediately chased and managed to catch the perpetrator.

As a result of the incident, the RP was the target of the mob's tantrum before being secured by the police who arrived at the location. The perpetrator was then taken to the Pinang Police Headquarters for further investigation.

Based on the results of the investigation, RP has been named a suspect and charged with Article 378 and/or Article 368 of the Criminal Code on Fraud and Extortion. In addition, he is also subject to the Emergency Law regarding possession of sharp weapons.

The police appealed to the public to be more careful in conducting online buying and selling transactions and choosing a safe place when holding meetings with potential buyers or sellers.
