North Kalimantan Governor Checks Sei Kayan Bridge Condition, BPJN Replaces 16 Bauts Damaged

TANJUNG SELOR - Governor of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Zainal A Paliwang and members of the Kaltara DPRD directly inspected the condition of the Sei Kayan Bridge which was damaged by a barge.

The governor checked the side of the bridge that was hit by a barge. Apart from the cracked road, several bolts of the bridge frame pole were also released.

"If I see, there are indeed several damaged bolts, but just now they have been replaced by the Balai (PJN Satker Region 1 Kaltara BPJN Kaltara)," said Zainal, Wednesday, March 5.

"In addition, there is also a bridge frame that looks warped right around the connection where the bolts were released," he continued.

The governor said that BPJN Kaltara had opened a guard post whose implementation was in collaboration with the Ditlantas Polda Kaltara.

"This maintenance is to temporarily limit vehicles that will pass on bridges, the Balai party limits the maximum weight plus the load of vehicles passing by only 8 tons," he said.

Meanwhile, the National Road Implementation Unit (PJN) Region 1 North Kalimantan (Kaltara) replaced 16 units of the Sei Kayan Bridge which were damaged after being hit by a barge on Saturday (1/3).

"The process of installing 16 damaged replacement bolts is carried out in two stages, the first is 10 bolts installed. The temporary road is closed for 1 hour," said Abdul Gafur, Commitment Making Officer (PPK) 1.1 Bulungan-Tanjung Selor-Sekatak Satker PJN Region 1 Kaltara.

"In the afternoon, we closed again to complete the installation, the remaining 6 bolts. The road was closed not too long, I'm afraid the queue of vehicles wishing to pass will be longer. Of course, if the long accompaniment of vehicles passes, it's also dangerous," he continued.

Baut, which was released from the bridge, is considered very vital because it holds a heavy burden, so it must be addressed immediately.

"At least by replacing or installing this new bolt, it can withstand the load before the expert team from the Ministry of Public Works arrives," he said.

Gafur explained that the results of the meeting with relevant stakeholders had been agreed that vehicles containing more than 8 tons were not allowed to pass.

"We will tighten it again, especially if there are 10-wheeled vehicles loaded with iron that are missed, we hope that this condition is understood by the owner or driver of the vehicle which weighs more than 8 tons plus the cargo," he said.
