JAKARTA - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is following up on findings related to the misuse of the distribution and use of Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) funds by deploying a team from the Inspectorate General (Irjen).
Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti said that his party had indeed received reports of misuse of PIP funds, although in small amounts.
"Yes, we have deployed a team from the Inspector General of the Ministry of Education and Culture to follow up on the misuse of PIP distribution by various parties. The number is not much, but we must not ignore it," said Minister of Education and Culture Mu'ti after being reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 5.
According to Mu'ti, the misuse of small amounts of PIP funds will have a negative impact and become a precedent for other schools to underestimate responsibilities in the use and distribution of PIP funds if they are tolerated.
He emphasized that his party will try to ensure that the distribution and use of PIP funds is right on target.
The Ministry of Education is currently recording schools that have been proven to have violated the distribution and use of PIP funds.
"If schools are proven to have committed violations, then we will take steps, especially regarding the distribution of PIP for the coming years," said Mu'ti.
The imposition of sanctions does not rule out the possibility of termination of PIP funds for schools found to have abused the aid funds.
Earlier on Tuesday (18/2), the West Java Regional X Education Office Branch office stated that it was investigating the alleged deduction of the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) funds at SMA Negeri 7 Cirebon City, which was previously reported by Hanifah when talking to the elected West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi when visiting SMA 7 Cirebon on February 3, 2025.
Head of the West Java Education Office (KCD) Region X Ambar Triwidodo revealed that his party has also coordinated with the Cirebon City Prosecutor's Office to investigate the alleged cuts in PIP funds.
He revealed that each student receiving the PIP should have reached Rp1.8 million and from the provisional report, there should have been an average cut of around Rp200,000 per student.
As for data from SMA 7 Cirebon, the total number of PIP recipients reached 539 people, with which it was disbursed in December 2024.
