Ahok Ready To Be Examined About Pertamina's Corruption Case, AGO: We Will Definitely Check

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has confirmed that it will examine the former President Commissioner (Komut) of PT Pertamina Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok in the case of corruption in the management of crude oil and refinery products for the period 2018-2023.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the AGO, Febrie Adriansyah, when asked about Ahok's willingness to be examined to testify in the Pertamina mega-corruption case which was estimated at Rp1 quadrillion.

"The investigation process is still ongoing, yes. Later, the parties that we consider necessary for proof, we will definitely check," said Febrie, Wednesday, March 5.

Jampidsus said the AGO handled the case with the aim of cleaning up Pertamina. With the hope that Pertamina's business governance in the future will be better and stronger.

"We hope that many Pertamina have their roles, don't lose to other countries, especially neighboring countries," said Febrie.

When asked whether the AGO would also examine SOE Minister Erick Thohir in this case, Febrie stated that until now there has been no plan to examine the PSSI general chairman.

He emphasized that currently the case is still in the process of being investigated.

"Not yet, everything is still in the process of being investigated," said Febrie.

"This is all a legal process, there is already a rail. What we prove, what is his actions, who is responsible, of course he is in the scope of examination. Which, if not within that scope, of course, investigators will not examine," he continued.

Previously, Ahok stated that he was willing to be questioned by the AGO regarding the alleged corruption case in the supply of fuel. The former governor of Jakarta emphasized that he had no problem if he had to give testimony as a witness in the case.

"I think it's very good. If you ask for information, it's the right of the apparatus, the right of the Prosecutor's Office," Ahok said in an interview with the media, Sunday, March 2.

According to Ahok, the case being handled by the Attorney General's Office is related to a subsidiary of PT Pertamina, namely PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, which has its own board of directors.

"What needs to be known is that Pertamina has a level. This is a subsidiary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, also has a Board of Commissioners, there is also a Komut," he said.

Ahok stated that he would give a statement with pleasure to the AGO. In fact, he also admitted that he was ready to reveal various information related to fuel management in Pertamina's body.

"So if I want to ask what information I know, I am happy to provide information. Because with the media, I can't reveal company secrets," said the PDIP politician.
