Water Height Reaches 3 Meters And 10,000 Families Affected, Jatiasih Becomes The Worst Flood Area In Bekasi

BEKASI - Jatiasih District has been the worst flood-affected area in Bekasi City, West Java since last night with water levels reaching three meters and more than 10,000 families being victims.

"Flooding due to water has been sent from Bogor Regency since Monday night," said Jatiasih Ashari sub-district head in Bekasi, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 4.

At least 10 thousand families (KK) were victims of flooding this time with the distribution of affected areas including residents living in Pondok Gede Permai (PGP) housing, Vila Jatirasa, Pondok Mitra Lestari and Kemang Ifi Housing.

"There are 11 RW (environment), with a possible position above 10 thousand families affected by the flood," he said.

Ashari also said that the water level in the Jatiasih District reached more than three meters. In fact, residents must be on the second floor of the house to avoid inundation while waiting for the evacuation team to arrive.

"In Kemang IfI it is above a meter. But for PGP, Villa Jatirasa and Pondok Mitra Lestari it is an average height of more than three meters," he said.

One of the joint officers from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) admitted that it was difficult to evacuate people affected by the flood considering that the water level that was already as high as the cable hampered the speed of the rubber boat.

"It's hard, for the inside it's difficult. Because the boat is stuck in the cables," he said.

However, a number of PGP residents were finally successfully evacuated by the joint team using six rubber boats with priority toddlers and elderly residents.

"But there are also those that we have successfully evacuated. So far, we have moved dozens of residents to a safe location," he said.
