Erick Thohir Meets Pramono Anung, Says He Wants To Regularly Use JIS For The National Team

JAKARTA - Chairman of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir met with DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at DKI Jakarta City Hall.

To Pramono, Erick revealed plans to use the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) regularly for various matches this year in addition to using Gelora Bung Karno (GBK).

"Indeed, when a big city like Jakarta has two facilities, one Gelora Bung Karno, one JIS, this must be very, very much synchronized and utilized, because two large fields are needed in Jakarta," said Erick at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, March 3.

Of the many national team matches and football clubs, Erick considered that he could not only use it as his venue. Because, regular maintenance of grass is needed.

"Now there are a lot of national team calendars. From June to July there is the President's Cup, there are also senior national team matches, U-17 Qualification, U-20, women's teams competing. Of course, it is impossible for our grass (GBK) to be used continuously, in the end it is not optimal," explained Erick.

Later, PSSI will arrange which matches will use GBK, and the rest will be held at JIS.

"It will depend on the conditions rather than the preparations for GBK and JIS and the calendar. The calendar is quite complex," he said.

Meanwhile, Pramono Anung emphasized that he would prepare for improvements to infrastructure and transportation modes at JIS. This is because the international standard stadium in North Jakarta is often complained about limited access to transportation and parking locations.

"For this reason, improvements must be made, improvements to transportation infrastructure so that it is easier to reach JIS," said Pramono.
