JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has adjusted the working hours of the state civil apparatus (ASN) in the office by reducing working time during the month of Ramadan this year.

Secretary of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Justin Adrian Untayana understands that there are adjustments to ASN working hours within the DKI Provincial Government during Ramadan. However, they are still asked to work optimally even though working hours are reduced.

"During this fast, ASN and Jakarta residents who participate in it need to adjust their work rhythm, however, we must ensure that the results of the work are also optimal. This applies, especially to employees who work to serve the people of Jakarta," Justin said in his statement, Monday, March 3.

According to Justin, one of the things that is prone to implementing this working hours reduction scheme is the delay in ASN returning to their respective jobs after their break hours end.

"For example, during rest hours, ASNs must return to their jobs on time. Don't forget that there are many residents waiting, besides that, of course ASN also want to go home quickly so they don't miss the time of breaking the fast," said Justin.

Thus, Justin encourages ASN to continue to carry out their duties effectively so that community services continue to run optimally even in a limited time.

"ASNs must focus and work effectively, because the population of Jakarta is very large, so the work of ASN services will still be large, even though their working hours are reduced," he explained.

The adjustment of the working hours of the DKI Provincial Government ASN is contained in the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary Circular (SE) Number 8/SE/2025. Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Personnel Agency (BKD), Chaidir said, this policy took effect on 1 Ramadan 1446 H.

In the SE, ASN working hours from Monday to Thursday start at 08.00 to 15.00 WIB, with rest times from 12.00 to 12.30 WIB. Then on Friday, working hours take place from 08.00 to 15.30 WIB, with rest times from 11.30 to 12.30 WIB.

Meanwhile, work units that provide direct services to the community for 24 hours, such as hospitals and firefighters, will apply a special work system or shift.

Chaidir collapsed, the adjustment of working hours during Ramadan was in line with the government's efforts to respect the implementation of fasting for Muslims.

"The fasting month is not an obstacle for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government apparatus in providing the best service to residents," said Chaidir.

This adjustment of working hours, continued Chaidir, provides flexibility for ASN in fasting without reducing work productivity. In addition, this policy is expected to maintain the quality of public services so that it remains optimal during the fasting month.
