After Being Expelled By Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy Was Welcomed By The British PM

JAKARTA - British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with a warm hug and affirmed his country's full support for Ukraine. The meeting came a day after Zelenskyy clashed with US President Donald Trump at the White House.

Zelenskyy arrived at 10 Downing Street on Saturday greeted with support from residents gathered outside the official residence of the British prime minister. Starmer immediately greeted him warmly.

"You are very welcome on Downing Street," said Starmer, Al Jazeera reported.

"As you can hear from the cheers outside, you have full support from all over the United Kingdom. We stand with you, with Ukraine, no matter how long it takes," he added.

In response, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who recently clashed with Donald Trump, expressed his gratitude to the British people for the support that has been given since the beginning of the war.

"I am very happy that Your Excellency Raja (Charles) accepts my meeting tomorrow. We in Ukraine feel lucky to have a strategic partner like England. We look forward to continuing to rely on your support," Zelenskyy said.

On the occasion, Britain and Ukraine signed a 2.26 billion loan agreement to strengthen Ukraine's defenses. The British government called this move a testament to its steadfast and sustainable support for the Ukrainian people.

Starmer is also scheduled to attend a meeting with European leaders on Sunday 2 March to strengthen support for Ukraine.

Starmer and Zelenskyy's meeting came after a shocking incident at the White House on Friday. In a joint press conference witnessed by US and world media, Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance had an argument with Zelenskyy. The US accused the Ukrainian president of not being grateful for the assistance he had provided.

"You are not in control right now," Trump told Zelenskyy.

"You have to make a deal or we will get out. If we get out, you will go to war alone, and I don't think the results will be fun," he said.

Donald Trump's statement shocked many European leaders who immediately expressed their solidarity with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump previously also caused controversy by contacting Russian President Vladimir Putin last month to discuss a possible deal related to Ukraine.
