Police Arrest Teacher Of Ngaji Perpetrator Of Child Sodomy In Makassar, Lure Victims Of Playing Games

Makassar Police arrested a Koran teacher at one of the mosques who had the heart to commit sexual violence to sodomize the victim of an eight-year-old boy in Manggala District.

"The perpetrator has been arrested and we have named him a suspect, initial I is 15 years old. The victim has been given a post-mortem and assistance," said Makassar Police Chief Kombes Arya Perdana, Thursday, February 27, as reported by ANTARA.

Apart from being named a suspect, the perpetrator was also immediately detained for investigation and guarding things that were not wanted by the victim's family.

Regarding the suspect's job, whether it is true as a Koran teacher, Arya stated that he is still in the process of being investigated, because the teacher has certification. It's just to make sure evidence and deepening are needed by investigators.

"If the information is like that, the Koran teacher. But it must have a certain strata, capacity, and certification. If it's just teaching Koran, we also teach parents to children to teach Koran," he explained.

"But we don't know if this is a certified Koran teacher or just a lesson. What is clear is the relationship," he said.

Arya said the suspect was threatened with a criminal act under Article 81 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection. However, seeing that the suspect is also a minor, the punishment will be different.

"The age is around 15 or 16 years, meaning that they are still minors. It's just a matter of punishment (different) if the law is ordinary (KUHP). If he is underage, we will impose a third (punishment)," he said.

The victim's family previously reported the incident to the police station on Monday, February 17, 2025, and brought his son with a post-mortem to confirm allegations of sexual violence against the victim and as evidence of strengthening the police.

"It has been (reported), the police report number LP 270, last Monday we reported. We are also intensely coordinating with related parties, this case must be dealt with firmly indiscriminately and preventing the possibility of repeated incidents," said SN of the victim's father.

The act was revealed after the victim admitted that the perpetrator committed the act not only at the mosque but also at the perpetrator's house with the lure of crackers and playing games.
