BNPT Focuses On Strengthening National Deradicalization And Preparedness Through RAN PE Phase 2

JAKARTA - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) is committed to focusing on strengthening the national deradicalization and preparedness program through the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Combating of Violent Extremism Based on Terrorism (RAN PE) phase 2 for the period 2025-2029.

"We also need to prioritize the implementation of cross-unit collaboration in the implementation of national preparedness, with the budget we have now we strengthen this program through the 2nd phase of RAN PE," said Head of BNPT, Komjen Eddy Hartono, Thursday, February 27.

The program has also been discussed at the BNPT Annual Leadership Meeting for Fiscal Year 2025 at the Head Office of BNPT Sentul, Bogor Regency on Monday, February 24.

Eddy emphasized that the deradicalization program in prisons and outside prisons must be integrated. According to him, deradicalization in prisons includes collaboration between BNPT, Polri, Prosecutor's Office, Correctional Institutions, Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) and the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).

"Meanwhile, outside the prison there are Correctional Centers (Bapas), TNI, and other elements whose coverage will be wider," he said.

Eddy said the strengthening of the Deradicalization and Preparedness program through the RAN PE phase 2 for the period 2025-2029 is in line with the National Medium-Term Long Plan (RPJMN). Where, he said, the 2025-2029 RPJMN is the explanation of the President's vision and mission.

"One of them is the coordination of synergies between defense and security instruments in the prevention and control of acts of terrorism, here is the plan for the role of RAN PE," he explained.

The Head of BNPT also continued the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, regarding the importance of BNPT to continue to be consistent in spreading positive narratives in efforts to counter terrorism in Indonesia.

Director of Multilateral Regional Cooperation, Dionisius Elvan Swasono added, RAN PE stage 2 will also focus on binding local governments to be actively involved in prevention efforts. One of them is asking the regions to prepare a Regional Action Plan for the Prevention of Violent Extremism that Leads to Terrorism (RAD PE).

"RAN PE phase kedua juga fokus implementasi di daerah. Dalam salah satu pasal di dalam Perpres itu diminta daerah untuk menyusun RAD PE," kata Dionisius.
