Anies Becomes A New Ormas Symbol 'People's Movement', Making Vehicles In The 2029 Presidential Election?

JAKARTA - One of Anies Baswedan's volunteers, Sahrin Hamid, officially founded a community organization (ormas) called the People's Movement in the Pasar Minggu area, South Jakarta today. The formation of the mass organization was also witnessed by Anies.

When reading the declaration of its formation, members of mass organizations wore shirts and berets with bright orange colors. Also posted a banner showing photos of Anies in the background of the wall of the declaration reading area.

After the declaration, Sahrin, who was also Anies Baswedan's spokesman, admitted that the idea of forming a mass organization for the People's Movement had emerged since 2023.

"So before the 2024 presidential election, the volunteer organs, the volunteers who have been fighting for changes to organize themselves so that the organic community grows which is then consolidated into one force that we call the people's movement," said Sahrin in Jakarta, Thursday, February 27.

Sahrin said Anies' name was not included in the ranks of the central board of mass organizations (DPP). What is clear is that Sahrin emphasized that the former Governor of DKI for the 2017-2022 period was used as an inspirational figure during the formation of the People's Movement.

"Mas Anies Baswedan, we know that as an inspirational figure, a driving figure and role model for all of us. Of course, Mr. Anies is the main symbol of being an organization of the People's Movement," said Sahrin.

In addition, Anies is also said to be active in the activities carried out by these mass organizations. "So while Mas Anies will certainly have a lot of activities in community social activities, through an institution that will certainly be launched in due course," added Sahrin.

After losing the presidential election and not getting a ticket to run for the 2024 Pilkada, Anies reportedly has the potential to establish a new political party as his vehicle in the upcoming election.

When asked whether the People's Movement as a political mass organization would later be born as a political party and become a vehicle in the 2029 presidential election, Anies considered that it was still too far to prepare for this.

"No distance. I would like to express my gratitude to Sahrin and DPP friends who invited us to this declaration event. I express my appreciation for the invitation. I am grateful that the relationship that has been maintained so far can be realized in a more organized organization. So that's it first," said Anies.
