JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, targets that waste management levies in Jakarta specifically for business and industrial actors will be implemented in March 2025.
Waste retribution is imposed if businesses or industries and households do not sort waste before being taken to the dump.
Asep said that waste levies for business actors can be directly applied when the regulations have been issued. In contrast to the waste levy for households, the provisions regarding waste retribution will be regulated through the governor's regulation (pergub).
"The retribution for industry and businesses, for businesses, will certainly be implemented this year too. The target is, hopefully if there are no delays, it can be this March, or April at the latest," said Asep at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, February 27.
Currently, the technical rules for waste retribution from the legal umbrella of Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024 concerning Regional Taxes and Regional Retribution are still being harmonized at the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).
"Indeed, because yesterday there was a change in the application of household levies, there will indeed be a slight revision which we have conveyed to the Ministry of Home Affairs," said Asep.
He continued, business actors in Jakarta will be subject to sanctions if they are reluctant to pay the waste levy. In addition, the person concerned also does not receive cleaning services as long as the retribution has not been paid.

"If you don't pay the retribution, the sanctions will be 1 percent of the SKRD bill (regional retribution provisions). The longer you don't pay the retribution, the more sanctions will also increase," he said.
