JAKARTA - Deputy Minister for Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Christina Aryani wants DKI Jakarta Province to be the largest contributor to Indonesian migrant workers abroad.

For Christina, Jakarta has many facilities to support the ability of migrant workers to work abroad.

"What I (KemenP2MI) do is look for what opportunities (work) abroad, meet our existing supply. Well, the provincial government can help from training. There are so many trainings that can be used. That's what we want to meet," he said after the opening of the East Jakarta (Jaktim) Job Fair at Taman Mini Square, Wednesday, November 26.

Deputy Minister Christina also reminded the public not to just catch the trend of the hashtag 'Escape Aja Dulu' by immediately leaving for work abroad without qualified consistency.

He encouraged prospective Indonesian workers (CPMI) to first equip themselves with their abilities, in order to be able to compete with migrant workers in other countries such as India or Bangladesh in the destination country.

"So we have to be ready. If we hear that there is #KaburAjaDulu, it's not enough to run away without expertise. If something happens, it's difficult for yourself, it's difficult for your family, it's difficult for the government. So running away must be ready, information and skills," said the Golkar Party politician.

Deputy Minister Christina hopes that East Jakarta Job Fair can become a forum for collaboration between the central government, local governments and other stakeholders in handling and empowering migrant workers.

This is in line with the target of the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) to place 425 thousand Indonesian migrant workers abroad this year.

"From the Ministry of P2MI, we are very happy to be able to collaborate with the Jakarta Provincial Government. We welcome job fair activities like this. Through job fair, the ministry through BP3MI can provide information about opportunities to work abroad with various skills. Don't forget to increase competence to achieve job opportunities abroad," said the alumnus of the University of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno welcomed the Ministry of P2MI's plan by planning to hold a job fair in each sub-district every 3 months. Moreover, he continued, Jakarta has many work training centers (BLK)

"So it means that this job fair moment is not only information about work in Indonesia, but also potential work abroad. If there are language problems, we have a BLK. We are ready to train prospective job seekers abroad in Mandarin, Kroea, Japan, Taiwan and this job fair will become a center of information," said the man who is familiarly called 'the Doel'.
