JAKARTA - Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) brought up the issue of the party's burglary efforts when he first served as chairman in 2021.

Agus recalled the message from the General Chairperson of Gerindra, who is currently President Prabowo Subianto, that he did not like any attempt to take over the party.

"In the midst of the storm, I remember the message of President Prabowo Subianto, if I'm not mistaken at Kartanegara at that time, he conveyed it directly to me. He conveyed it to me more or less like this, Gus, I also don't like such party burglary efforts , short sentences really mean in the hearts of all of us the big family of the Democratic Party, "said AHY in his speech at the closing ceremony of the Democratic Party Congress VI which was held at Ritz Carlton, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 25.

Given the message, AHY at that time together with all Democrat cadres were optimistic that they could defend the Democrats from the burglary attempt.

At that time, there was an Extraordinary Congress which was suddenly held in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra in March 2021.

"Comes from a leader, comes from a person who knows exactly how difficult it is to build a party, the solidity of cadres, with sweat and tears, so I believe Pak Prabowo's alignment is in the heart when it is full based on his long experience, and it really means a lot to the Democratic Party," said AHY.

"And I can conclude from the message of the senior message, that in politics we can compete but never lose our integrity and respect for democracy," the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development.

Even AHY said PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri also disagreed with the party's struggle efforts in immoral ways and crashed into the constitution.

"The news is that Megawati Soekarnoputri's mother also disagrees with things like that, practice immoral and unconstitutional political practices. Because she has also experienced it first," he said.

In front of all Democratic cadres, AHY conveyed that a political message was not just a game of numbers, but a struggle for the benefit of the people.

"Sometimes politics is mathematics, counting chances of winning and losing, the probability can be calculated based on statistics but the true politics is to maintain idealism and the art of struggle," said AHY.

"Politics is about choosing the right path, politics is about who stands by our side, when a storm strikes. Politics is about conscience and therefore the Democratic Party has chosen the path of struggle. We are not here for a moment but we are today for the benefit of the people," he concluded.
