JAKARTA - Two people were arrested in connection with a Molotov attack at the Russian consulate in Marseille. The motive behind this terror is not yet known.

The Prosecutor's Office did not provide further details about who was arrested, apart from stating they were "two important people" in a statement on Tuesday, February 25.

Two Molotov cocktails were thrown against the perimeter of the Russian consulate in the city of the southern French port of Marseille. One of the projectiles exploded on Monday, February 24.

Russia demanded a full investigation by France and said the incident looked like an act of terrorism, state news agency TASS reported.

No one was injured, said a security source. The consulate staff remained indoors and the police put up a safety line around the consulate.

The incident in the southern French city took place on the anniversary of the three-year Russian-Ukraine war.

The explosion in the territory of the Russian Consulate General in Marseille has the characteristics of a terrorist attack, reports TASS, citing a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
