PeKANBARU - Riau Regional Police (Polda) asked the company to take responsibility for 15 victims who died in the incident of a truck plunging into the Segati River, Segati Village, Langgam District, Pelalawan Regency.

Riau Police Chief Inspector General Muhammad Iqbal asked the company to take care of survivors or deaths. In this case, the victims are employees of PT Empat Res Brothers (ERB), Contractor of Industrial Plant Forest Company PT Nusa Wana Raya (NWR).

"I encourage the company to be as strong as possible to be responsible. It is the responsibility to take a humanitarian approach to survivors and the victims who died," Iqbal said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 24.

He also asked for everything to be taken care of, starting from the funeral process for his body to his family. In addition, he also asked the Pelawan Regency Government and the Pelalawan Police Chief to communicate with the company regarding the handling of this case.

"Yesterday I went down to the location. I asked the deputy regent, the Chief of the Pelalawan Police and other stakeholders to communicate with the company. Please convey the progress to me," said Iqbal.
