JAKARTA - Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said on Sunday Ukraine could fight Russia until the end of this year with European support.

"Ukraine can fight alone with our European support until the end of this year, and I think (Russian President Vladimir) Putin should consider this," Foreign Minister Sikorski told CNN in an interview.

When asked what his impression was after speaking with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding the security guarantee for Kyiv by Washington, Foreign Minister Sikorsi said the best guarantee for Ukraine was his army of nearly one million people, who fought Russian aggression.

"If you asked me three years ago where Ukraine and Russia would be in this war within three years, I don't think any of us would have expected that Russia would only capture 20 percent of Ukraine," said Foreign Minister Sikorski.

"But if we want to achieve lasting peace, peace must be peace that can be accepted by both parties, especially, as victims of aggression," he concluded.
