Religious Organizations And Pre-Involved Presidents As Advisors And Supervisors Of BPI Danantara

Head of the Presidential Communication Office Hasan Nasbi said religious community organizations (ormas) until the former President of the Republic of Indonesia was involved as an advisor and supervisor of the Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara).

When asked about religious organizations being involved as supervisors, Hasan answered briefly, when he arrived at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday.

"Maybe it's in the advisory," Hasan said while attending the launch of the Danantara in the central courtyard of the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Antara, Monday, February 24.

Hasan also responded to the question of the former President who is also likely to become an advisory board.

"The President's idea is like that. Maybe for advisors," Hasan said.

Although he did not want to elaborate on the former President of the Republic of Indonesia who will serve as an advisory board, Hasan explained the purpose of involving the former President in the Danantara as Indonesia's sovereign wealth funds (SWD).

According to Hasan, Danantara was formed as an institution that must have accountability and transparency. The involvement of mass organizations to the former President of the Republic of Indonesia is also in accordance with the Santiago Principle (Santiago Principle), as a good guideline for SWF governance.

"To maintain extraordinary accountability and transparency, in order to be able to be compatible with the Santiago Principle, it takes people with high integrity, national figures, as part of the advisor of this institution," Hasan said.

Previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto asked former Indonesian President and leaders of religious organizations to participate in supervising the management of state wealth funds, namely BPI Danantara.

"Danantara is the power of energy of the future and we must protect this together. Therefore, I ask all Presidents before I am pleased to participate as supervisors in this fund. I also think that if necessary, NU leaders, Muhammadiyah leaders, possibly leaders from KWI and some others will also help supervise," Prabowo said at the 17th Anniversary of the Gerindra Party in Sentul, West Java, last week.
