Already In Magelang, Tanjungpinang Walkot Ready To Return Right Not Participating In The Retret Of Regional Heads

TANJUNGPINANG - Mayor of Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (Kepri), Lis Darmansyah responded to the instructions of PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri so that regional heads promoted by PDIP do not participate in retret events in Magelang, Central Java.

Lis, who is also a PDI-P cadre, emphasized that as a party member, he was committed and upright in carrying out the order of the PDIP General Chair.

"This is also a form of solidarity as fellow PDI-P cadres," said Lis when contacted via WhatsApp from Tanjungpinang, Antara, Friday, February 21.

Lis is currently at the Akmil Headquarters in Magelang, after being inaugurated simultaneously with other elected regional heads at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, last Thursday.

"I arrived in Magelang this morning. If there are no further instructions from the General Chair, immediately turn right, return to Tanjungpinang," said Lis.

PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri instructed regional heads promoted by her party not to attend the briefing or retrett event, February 21, 2024 in Magelang, Central Java.

This is contained in the PDI-P's official letter signed by General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, Thursday, February 20.

The instruction arose after observing the national political dynamics that occurred today, especially after the detention of PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto by the KPK.

The letter said, "given Article 28 Paragraph 1 AD/ART of the PDI-P that the General Chair as the center of political power of the party has the authority, duty, responsibility, and acting both inside and outside on behalf of the party and for the existence of parties, programs and performance of the party, all party policies and instructions are directly under the control of the General Chairperson of the PDI-P".

In the letter, Megawati instructed all regional heads from PDIP who were on their way to Magelang Regency to immediately stop and turn back to their respective homes.

"Regional heads and deputy regional heads are to postpone travel that will follow the retreat in Magelang on February 21, 2025. If they have been on their way to Magelang City to stop and wait for further directions from the General Chair," Megawati wrote in the letter.
