JAKARTA - TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto discussed strengthening cooperation in the military sector with the United States Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Stephen T. Koehler in order to strengthen bilateral relations and strengthen defense to the two countries.
The discussion occurred when Agus received an honorary visit from Koehler at the West Merdeka Subden office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, February 19.
During the visit, they also discussed the Joint Joint Exercise of the 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo 2025 (MNEK 2025) which was held in Bali.
The United States itself is one of the countries involved in the international joint training activities.
The Commander also appreciated the participation of the United States in the annual training activities.
"We all hope that this Komodo Joint Exercise can increase interoperability with all partner countries in the maritime sector in responding to natural disasters that often occur in the region," Agus said as quoted by ANTARA.
Agus hopes that the cooperation in the military sector between Indonesia and the United States will not only end in the 2025 MNEK event but can continue with other joint training activities.
Several joint training agendas that the TNI and the United States military can carry out in the near future, namely Latgabma CARAT (Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training) and Rimpac (Rim of Pacific) between the Indonesian Navy and the US Navy, LatmaPacific Partnership and Latgabma Super Garuda Shield.
