Minister Impas Will Await Communications Of Inmates

JAKARTA - Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Impas) Agus Andrianto will monitor the communication of the inmates. You do this by providing a Special Telecommunication Warung for Prisons (Wartelsuspas).

Agus made this statement during a joint working meeting with Commission XIII at the Indonesian Parliament, Senayan, Jakarta.

"We can also monitor communications carried out by correctional inmates who use wartelsuspas," Agus said, Wednesday, February 19.

In addition, the provision of wartelsuspas is also referred to as an effort to remove the use of cellphones in prisons. Moreover, the use of communication tools by inmates is often related to criminal acts.

Thus, monitoring the communication of the inmates is also an initial effort to prevent criminal acts.

"Form a step to realize a zero cellphone considering that a cellphone is the main means of committing a criminal offense," said Agus.

In addition, Agus also conveyed his performance regarding the medical rehabilitation process. A total of 1,090 inmates have undergone the program, especially those related to drug cases.

"Where this program aims for healing and restoring health for inmates who are categorized as narcotics addicts," said Agus.
