Minister Impas Calls Inmates Who Can Amnesti Will Undergo BNN Rehabilitation To Komcad

JAKARTA - Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Impas) Agus Andrianto stated that inmates who will receive amnesty will be included in the rehabilitation process held by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and reserve component training activities.

Agus made this statement during a joint working meeting with Commission XIII at the Indonesian Parliament, Senayan, Jakarta.

"Residents who are assisted by corrections who receive amnesty are planned to be included in the rehabilitation program in collaboration with BNN and included in the reserve component training program," said Agus, Wednesday, February 19.

He explained that granting amnesty is one of the efforts to reduce the capacity of the Correctional Institution (Lapas) which is currently overloaded. In addition, this can be used as motivation for other inmates.

"Making motivation for correctional inmates to behave well so that they can strengthen coaching and rehabilitation programs in correctional institutions," he said.

Amnesty can also help with budget efficiency, considering that operational costs in correctional institutions are very large in meeting the needs of inmates.

"The needs of correctional inmates such as food, health, and security," he said.

Regarding the number of inmates who will receive amnesty around 19,337. However, that number will be reviewed.

"From the results of the initial verification and assessment, there were 19,337 correctional inmates who passed the verification," said Agus.
