DKI Provincial Government Will Order Common Homeless People In Ramadan

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary Marullah Matali said that the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government will again regulate people with social welfare problems (PMKS) or the need for social welfare services (PPKS) during the month of Ramadan this year.

"God willing, in the month of Ramadan, we will actually do other months, Satpol PP friends, usually there are also friends from the Social Service with their respective devices that will reach out, control and the like," said Marullah at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, February 18.

Jakarta, according to Marullah, is often hit by the phenomenon of beggars and homeless people seeking mercy from the community during the holy month of Ramadan on the streets and public spaces.

Meanwhile, the government projects that in the future Jakarta will become a global city. This is called Marullah must be supported by efforts to order and discipline the community.

"So the momentum is usually used by certain people or certain people for certain interests. When the authorities do not carry out control here and there, Jakarta will be crowded very much," said Marullah.

Moreover, continued Marullah, not all homeless people or gepeng who appear in Jakarta are people who really need help. They beg only for profit in an instant way.

"Although not overall, I think it is not fair to look for fortune by manipulating the situation and the conditions of each," he said.

From the outreach and control process, PMKS/PPKS who were arrested by the DKI Provincial Government will be taken to the Social Service orphanage for assessment and then become assisted residents or sent back to their area of origin if not residents of Jakarta.

"So we don't have the heart to give certain steps to people who act in an orderly manner in Jakarta, that's not it. But we want us to come together to make Jakarta our city, which is truly orderly, disciplined and so on," explained Marullah.
