Forest And Land Fires In West Aceh Expand To 7.5 Hectares

BANDA ACEH - Forest and land fires (karhutla) that occurred in Blang Beurandang Village, Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh spread up to 7.5 hectares. The expansion of the burned land due to limited water sources at the location.

Head of the West Aceh Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Teuku Ronal said the process of extinguishing the hotspots was hampered due to the difficulty of accessing water at the location. So that the fire continues to spread to a number of points.

"The existing water source is very limited. The existing swamps are dry," explained West Aceh BPBD Head Teuku Ronal in his statement, Thursday, February 13.

Teuku Ronal said that his party continues to search for water sources that are close to the hotspots. The strong winds at the location made the fire spread quickly, so that extinguishing hotspots was difficult. In fact, the location of the trip to the far hotspots is also an obstacle.

Apart from Blang Beurandang Village, there are two more locations that have become hotspots, namely Gampa Village and Darul Huda, said Ronal. However, the fire in the two locations has been successfully extinguished due to the increasingly widespread forest and land fires in West Aceh.
