Lombok The Great Praya Mosque dome in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), caught fire on Thursday, February 13, at around 03.30 WITA. This incident is thought to have been caused by an electrical short circuit after being hit by extreme weather.

Head of the Central Lombok Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat), Supardan Kennah, said that the fire was successfully extinguished after the Damkarmat team went to the location to extinguish the fire.

The fire incident was discovered after one of the mosque administrators reported the incident to the firefighters. The team immediately prepared the equipment and headed to the scene.

"At around 03.37 WITA, our team arrived at the location and immediately acted to extinguish the fire based on information from the management of the Great Praya Mosque," said Supardan.

Within about 30 minutes, the fire was successfully extinguished so as not to spread to other buildings. After checking again, the team confirmed that the location was safe from the fire.

"The cause of the fire is estimated to be due to an electrical short circuit. The loss due to this incident is estimated at IDR 500 million," he added.

Meanwhile, the management of the Great Mosque of Praya, H. Ridwan Ma'aruf, confirmed that the fire occurred due to an electrical short circuit. The mosque's dome leaked and houses a lot of water, causing disruption to the electrical system.

Ridwan also ensured that currently activities at the Great Mosque of Praya had returned to normal.

"The marbot who was on guard at night turned on the lights at around 03.30 WITA, then suddenly a spark was heard from the ceiling. After that, the lights were turned off again and the marbot immediately reported to the Damkarmat," he explained.

Currently, the mosque has ensured that all worship activities can be carried out again as usual.
