1 Ton Of Liquor Smuggling In The Aru Islands Was Thwarted

AMBON - The Indonesian Navy Base (Lanal) of the Maluku Aru Islands secured one ton of unlicensed liquor smuggled by ship in the area.

"illegal prohibited goods in the form of local liquor amounting to 1000 liters or one ton will be destroyed immediately," said Commander Lanal Aru, Marine Lieutenant Colonel (P) Sriadi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 12.

Thousands of liters of alcoholic beverages were secured by Lanal Aru personnel in the illegal Activity law enforcement operation in the Lanal Aru working area.

PAM personnel at Lanal Aru Port secured the ship KM. The Nusantara Belt 60 which docked at Yos Soedarso Dobo Public Port, Aru Islands Regency. The ship is carrying out an embarkation and debarkation of passengers and cargo.

During the examination, Lanal Aru personnel found five boxes and one gene measuring 35 liters containing local liquor of sopi type. The officers' suspicions prompted further sweeping, which then revealed more sopi liquor packaged in sacks. The items were then secured to the Traffic Island KAL III-09-06.

Danlanal Aru stated that these findings were immediately reported to Pasintel Lanal Aru, Marine Captain (P) Indra Gunawan, who then reported directly to the Commander of Lanal Aru.

"From the results of the security, a total of 17 sacks, seven boxes of drinks, 11 genes measuring 35 liters, 150 bottles of 500 milliliters of minerals, and 200 plastics measuring one liter were found. The total reached 1000 liters or one ton," explained Danlanal Aru.

He revealed that the results of the investigation showed that the liquor came from Tepa, Southwest Maluku Regency, and would be distributed to agents in Dobo City ahead of the long holiday.

Danlanal Aru emphasized the importance of strict supervision of ships leaning at Yos Soedarso Dobo Public Port to prevent the entry of liquor and other prohibited items.

"Alcohol often triggers accidents, riots, and fights in the community, such as the incident that recently occurred in Dobo City due to alcohol consumption," he said.
