TARAKAN - North Kalimantan Police Chief (Kaltara) Inspector General Hary Sudwijanto reminded investigators in his ranks to increase professionalism and synergize with other law enforcement officers so that they can strengthen a more transparent and accountable investigation system.

The Regional Police Chief also acknowledged that there were still obstacles faced in the investigation process, one of which was the limited number of personnel at the North Kalimantan Regional Police which was still relatively new.
"Our personnel are still limited, while the number of cases handled is increasing. Therefore, through forums like this, we can discuss more effective law enforcement measures, including case settlement options through restorative justice, in accordance with applicable regulations," he explained.
The Kapolda emphasized that not all cases must end in court. If possible, a resolution at the local level with a restorative justice approach could be an alternative, as long as it remains guided by the applicable law.
"Not all cases must go up to crime. If it can be resolved restoratively, it will be better for all parties," he said.
The Regional Police Chief also reminded all investigators that the time limit in the investigation process has been regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
"Therefore, investigators must comply with existing provisions so that the legal process can run according to procedures and does not cause legal uncertainty for the parties," he said.
