The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has extended its disaster emergency response status in the South Lampung region because it sees the escalation of potential disasters getting higher.
Head of BPBD South Lampung Ariswandi said, with the escalation of the potential for natural disasters that were higher due to extreme weather, the disaster emergency response status in the area was extended until the end of February 2025.
"For the emergency response status, yesterday we South Lampung have set an emergency alert which ends on February 6, 2025, and considering that this extreme weather disaster is almost evenly distributed in 17 sub-districts i of South Lampung, so we are increasing the disaster emergency response status for the next 14 days," he said in South Lampung, Monday, February 10, confiscated by Antara.
He said the increase in emergency response status was because in the last few days the South Lampung Regency had experienced extreme weather disasters such as tornadoes, flash floods, and fallen trees.
"A few days ago to this day, almost all 17 sub-districts in South Lampung have experienced flooding caused by the high intensity of rain since the last few days, causing many areas to be inundated," he said.

Therefore, he asked the people in the area to increase awareness of potential natural disasters that could at any time threaten the safety of residents.
"We see that until now heavy rains still often occur, then BMKG has also issued an early warning about the potential for high rainfall until the end of February, therefore I urge the public to always increase awareness of things that we do not want," he appealed.
