Danspuspom TNI Confirms That The Case Of The Former Sertu Hendri Personnel Who Escaped When Surrounded Is Still Being Investigated

The Commander of the Central Military Police (Danspuspom) TNI Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto said his party would continue to investigate criminal cases with the perpetrators of former TNI personnel known as Sertu Hendri.

"For those in Bangka Belitung, we will continue to follow up. We will continue to process the person concerned," said Major General Yusri when met by the media crew after holding a ceremony to enforce the Order and Operation of the Military Police Yustisi at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Antara, Monday, February 10.

However, Major General TNI Yusri did not explain in detail what kind of efforts the military police would take to handle cases against Hendri. Major General TNI Yusri was also reluctant to explain the latest developments in handling the Hendri case.

Sertu Hendri is a member of the TNI who last served in Korem 042/Garuda Putih, Jambi. However, it is known that the perpetrators are no longer members of the TNI and have been deserting since 2023 based on the decision of the military court in Palembang.

Sertu Hendri was reported by his wife on Sunday (12/1) night to the Belitung Preparation Subdenpom for threatening.

When he was about to be secured in a rented house, he fought back and took a hostage and took away a Belitung Preparatory Subdenpom personnel, Serma Randi, using his car.

Furthermore, Serma Randi was found by a resident on Buluhtumbang-Air Seruk Street with a gunshot wound to the left back and is currently undergoing treatment at the Marsidi Judono Belitung Hospital.

Hendri was surrounded by TNI and Polri units while hiding in a house, Jalan Anwar Aid, Tanjungpandan, Bangka Belitung Province, Tuesday (14/1).

"The perpetrator fled, even though he was already surrounded earlier," said a member of the joint team who was pursuing the perpetrators in Tanjungpandan, Bangka Belitung Islands, Tuesday.

A joint team from the Belitung Police, Kodim 0414/Belitung, Battalion B of the Bangka Belitung Police Satbrimob, and Subdetres of the Belitung Military Police (Subdenpom) had previously carried out a siege of a house where the perpetrator was hiding.

The team had time to negotiate with the perpetrators to surrender properly, but the perpetrator did not heed the negotiations.

The negotiations, he said, should not cause any casualties because the perpetrators are known to still carry firearms and hide in densely populated areas.

However, the perpetrator did not surrender, so the joint team made a forced effort by firing tear gas into the house.

The team also carried out an ambush against the perpetrator at the house where the hiding was.

However, the perpetrator was not found in the house and is suspected of having fled from the siege by officers so that he is currently still being chased.
