JAKARTA - The Palestinian land is not a "coupon" that US President Donald Trump and his company can buy and sell at will, but belongs to the Palestinian people, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus said on Saturday.

"They (US) said if you give this place (Gaza Palestine) to us, we will make it a beautiful resort. I want to say this very clearly. The land of Palestinian Muslims, the land of Palestinian Christians is not a coupon to sell to Trump and his companies," Kurtulmus was quoted as saying by Anadolu news agency.

Kurtulmus insists that Palestinian land belongs to the Palestinian people and is entirely part of the Palestinian people's homeland, so the decision to do so belongs to the Palestinian people.

For that, he said, there should be no discussion regarding Palestinian sovereignty other than being decided by those who are part of the Palestinian national state.

Earlier on Tuesday (4/2), Trump called Gaza a "dismantling force" and said that the US would "take over" reconstruction in the Palestinian enclave area.

He also suggested mass relocation of Palestinians to other countries, such as Egypt or Jordan, as part of his plan to convert the Gaza Strip into "Central East Riviera".

The Palestinian Hamas Movement condemned Trump's statement expelling Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and building US control over the region.

In addition, a number of EU member states, as well as other countries such as Egypt and China, also opposed Trump's initiative.
