DENPASAR - To support the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) in Indonesia, Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Maruli Simanjuntak said the construction of a healthy kitchen had reached nearly 300 units.

"The healthy kitchen that has prepared nutritious food for the community so far is more than 200, maybe 300 from the National Nutrition Agency," said General Maruli during a working visit at Makorem Wira Satya Denpasar, Bali, Saturday, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, February 8.

The former Kostrad Commander explained that Free Nutrition Food is mainly the responsibility and authority of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

Maruli emphasized that the position of the Indonesian Army in the success of President Prabowo Subianto's program was only to help the National Nutrition Agency, not the main policy maker.

"Actually, the one who has the most authority to explain this should be the National Nutrition Agency. Our members help do that," he said.

"The National Nutrition Agency has been working with us from the start, how to find locations, record students and pregnant women, personnel, and vehicles. That's what we continue to help," said Maruli.

He said the existence of healthy kitchens in the regions would help distribute and logistically eat nutritiously. However, he emphasized that the materials used in the MBG Program will still involve local residents to support the community's economy.

"If this goes on, the economy will automatically rotate there. The kitchen will require rice, vegetables, meat, and so on. If you learn from the delivery of the President, the calculation could be Rp. 7 billion to prepare a healthy kitchen," said Maruli Simanjuntak.
