BEKASI A 12 kilogram LPG gas cylinder explosion occurred at the UD Mulia Gas Mandiri gas base located at the Permata Cikarang Selatan Housing Complex, Block D RT 004 RW 015, Sukadami Village, South Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency, on Thursday 6 February.

As a result of the incident, the owner of Agus Hasanudin (36) and an employee, Purwadi (46), suffered severe burns.

South Cikarang Police Chief Kompol Ridha Poetra Aditya explained that the explosion occurred when Agus Hasanudin was emptying the remaining gas from the LPG cylinder. At the same time, Purwadi came smoking.

"According to the victim AH (Agus Hasanudin), at the time of the incident he was opening a 12 kilogram gas cylinder clip which was empty to remove the remaining gas, then closed the tube valve with a wet cloth," said Ridha.

Agus had reprimanded Purwadi to remove his cigarette butts first. However, when Purwadi was about to throw away his cigarette, suddenly an explosion occurred which resulted in both of them being burned.

The two victims were immediately rushed to Amanda Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, local residents who heard the explosion immediately reported the incident to the South Cikarang Police.

Currently, the police have conducted a crime scene (TKP) and put up a police line at the site of the explosion.

"We are still gathering witness statements and investigating the exact cause of this gas cylinder explosion," said Ridha.
