KemenPPPA: There Are Power Relations In The Case Of Sexual Violence Teachers Paying 19 Children

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) views that there is a high inequality in power relations between the perpetrators and victims in cases of sexual violence against 19 boys committed by unscrupulous Koran teachers in Ciledug, Tangerang City.

"We see that the inequality of power relations between the perpetrators who are Koran teachers and the victims who are still children plays a role in this case," said Deputy for Special Protection for Children of the Ministry of PPPA, Nahar when contacted in Jakarta, Wednesday, as reported by Antara.

KemenPPPA coordinates with the Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) Tangerang City to ensure the fulfillment of children's rights and assistance according to the needs of children who are victims.

"UPTD PPA Tangerang City has provided psychological assistance for victims on a regular basis. Given the large number of victims, assistance services are carried out continuously. In addition, post-mortem assistance has also been carried out to support the ongoing legal process," said Nahar.

In this case, the alleged sexual violence occurred from 2017 to 2024 with 20 people recorded, 19 of whom were minors.

The perpetrator with the initials W (40), who is known as a Koran teacher, has been arrested by the police.

The suspect used various methods to attract the attention of children to come to his home, such as providing eight cellphones that the victim could use for free, offering access to free hotspots, and providing food and cigarettes for the children who were the targets.

After committing immorality, the suspect gave a reward in the form of money in the amount between Rp. 20,000 to Rp. 50,000 to the victims.
